Men Walking and Talking - and why we are supporting them.
We at ArchieSoul Men are supporting Men Walking and Talking and the outstanding support that they give to men at times of challenge.
Men Walking and Talking run mental health walks, with the aim of bringing men together in a safe space to end the stigma around mens mental health by supporting each other.
Men Walking and Talking was started by Dan Reid in 2021 in Telford, Shropshire with initially one attendee on the first walk, it has now grown to 23 walks across 14 counties in the UK and growing!
The premise is simple, led by a group leader each week the groups meet up and walk & talk, no judgement, no pressure just solid peer support to each other.
For me it is a natural fit, we obviously have contact with a lot of men, or the partners of men, and I wanted to do something with that audience. It can be a bit of a cliché for a business that sells products to men to go all in on mens mental health, and I was aware of that, but when I spotted a MWAT leaflet in a Shrewsbury chip shop, it really resonated.
ArchieSoul Men was created during lockdown mainly to keep me going, it was just something to focus on whilst things were getting difficult. I never expected it to take off in the way it has, but that in itself has brought challenges, even a sense of responsibility to keep it going. Our brains work in mysterious ways, especially male ones. I also have very close friends who have suffered in silence until it has pushed them to the edge. The literal very edge in one mates case.
So the blokes from Men Walking and Talking are doing righteous work, and if we at ArchieSoul Men can help promote them with leaflets in orders, or links on our site, that’s exactly what we’re going to do. We will look to do further collaboration in the future.
